Biltong is a staple snack in South Africa, often incorporated into salads for a savory protein boost during summer braais.

Ingredients

  • 200g moist beef biltong slices
  • 2 ripe avocados, sliced
  • 100g Danish feta, crumbled
  • 200g mixed salad leaves
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1/4 cup balsamic glaze
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Method

    Place the mixed salad leaves in a large bowl or platter.

    Arrange the avocado slices and red onion over the greens.

    Scatter the biltong slices and crumbled feta evenly on top.

    Whisk the olive oil, salt, and pepper together and drizzle over the salad.

    Finish with a generous drizzle of balsamic glaze before serving.

  • Use moist biltong for a better texture in salads.|Choose avocados that are slightly firm to prevent them from becoming mushy.|Add toasted sunflower seeds for extra crunch.|Store the dressing separately if not serving immediately.
